Mestan Aga Mosque, founded by Hagi Berbe Ahmet, was built in 1860, as the number of Muslims who settled in this area began to increase, in the years 1856 – 1859, following the obligation to emigrate, imposed by the government Russian, as a result of the Crimean War.
Currently, in the city of Măcin, there is a Turkish minority, which represents 2.35% of the total number of inhabitants.
The Mestan Aga Mosque, located on Granitului street, at number 5, is included in the List of historical monuments in Tulcea county.
