Located in the vicinity of the area of the Roman fort, Arrubium, Arrubium Monastery, like all monasteries, was established by divine order. God the Proniator, ordained that a beautiful Monastery dedicated to St. Hierarch Nicolae (December 6) and St. Pious Parascheva (October 14) should be built in the city of Măcin.
The promoters and founders of this monastery are from the blessed Gorga family who for a long time have been bringing a sacrifice to God. At the full expense of the Gorga family, the great wooden church and a body of cells were built, where three nuns, headed by Emanuela Simion, could begin their monastic life.
The church and the body of cells, located in a rather nicely landscaped courtyard, were consecrated on November 4, 2002.
Inside the church, the faithful, who cross its threshold, can worship the vestments of St. Pious Parascheva, the relics of St. Hierarch Nectarie Taumaturgul, from Aegina and the relics of the holy martyrs from Hozeva.
At the St. Nicholas Temple in 2017, the Monastery received as a gift a copy of the miracle-working icon of Our Lady of Pantanassa, painted in St. Mount Athos.
The community of the monastery counts seven nuns and two priests who carry out their activity according to the Latin word “ora et labora”.
The liturgical program continues throughout the day as follows:
Morning: 06:30-08:00 (Akathist of the day, Holy Liturgy and Parastas for those who are asleep).
Evening: 18:00-19:30 (Vespers and Matins).
We await you with brotherly love to cross the threshold of this holy Monastery!
