Before reaching the town of Măcin, tourists can stop for a few moments in the town of Cerna, where the memorial house of the poet Panait Cerna is located.
The house where the poet Panait Cerna was born is in the middle of the village, so it is easy to notice.
The commune of Cerna is located approximately 30 kilometers from the town of Măcin and, among the houses, newer or older, the residents are also proud of the one where the poet Panait Cerna was born, a craftsman’s house from the beginning of the 20th century, located near the church.

The house was donated by the poet’s heirs to be turned into a museum. Thus, the most important events in the poet’s life, as well as important aspects of his work, are presented, through reproductions of photographs, documents, civil and educational documents, editions of the poetic work, critical references, through a documentary exhibition organized in the first three rooms. Three other rooms and a pavilion house an ethnographic exhibition, which illustrates the specifics of the area at the end of the 19th century.
